Hi there, due to popular demand, I have resolved to share
some of my little knowledge on singing with the hope that I might be able to help
someone improve or sing better even if it’s just by a little bit. I must warn
you at this junction that even though I might pass of as an expert, I’m still
learning, that’s what we are alive for, to learn and keep learning, so if at
any junction you see something questionable or unreasonable, be sure to pass it
across in the comment section or chat me up on whatsapp +2348140263326 and I will
make necessary adjustments. By now you already get the idea that we would be
doing this together, so if you are ready…Let’s begin!
Have you ever listened to someone sing and you squeeze your
face like the person ate garlic and the smell kept oozing out of their mouth,
the most annoying part is the confidence with which they sing horribly right? Well,
you might not be that bad or maybe you are (you never can tell), but the fact
remains that you want to get better, that’s why you are reading this, so
whether you sound like a fish in labour or a cow singing the national anthem or
like a strangled giraffe or like James brown or Micheal Jackson, what’s important
is that you want to get better, and as far as singing goes you have got to get
better.
So here we are, to begin with, I need you to read the next lines
carefully, read between the lines and probably inside the lines too. Now raise
up one hand, open your mouth and say “haaaaaaa” for about 5 seconds, yes… have
you done that? If you did that well I’m sorry that was only a joke and a test
to see how badly you want this and if you didn’t, I got one thing to say to you
“why so serious?”, okay that’s three things but you get my point, singing is
fun, you should loosen up and try to find humor in it, that why I made this
write up less formal and more conversational, to help you relax and enjoy the
process and I will have you know that as you read on you would still need say “haaaaa”
and “heeeeeeeey” and some other weird vowels for real, so if you are the shy
type, I just gave you a heads up and if you are the serious type… two words “loosen
up”.
I have carefully divided this guide into modules or what you might call parts, singing is a really wide topic and even though it seems straight forward, there’s a lot to
it amidst the eye. That’s why i broke it down to parts or modules (so you dont get bored or lazy to read, yes i'm talking to you...you know yourself), each one addresses areas of equal
importance to singing and allowing you follow step by step and probably go back
a step or two to recap or relearn. I will urge you to pay rapt attention, give
your time and mind to this since it already hard enough that this material is strictly a text and to learn how to sing you need to sing not read, but notwithstanding,
we will make the best use of this avenue, I will provide media material when
necessary and I hope you will make use of them as a guide to this guide. So here
are the major headlines.
